Backstage Update On Lana's Botched WWE Raw Promo

The former 'Ravishing Russian' had a rough time on this week's Raw.

WWE's foremost so-bad-it's-actually-amazing programme yielded a new development on this week's episode of Raw as Lana announced that she was filing for divorce and getting a restraining order against estranged husband Rusev, with new partner Bobby Lashley all smiles beside her.

Lana delivered her second unconvincing performance in as many weeks. Hurrying through the script, she appeared to trip over her words several times, first saying the order prevented Ru-Ru from coming within "90 miles" of her, then going with "90 days," before finally getting it right at "90 yards." Lashley even had to correct her at one point, giving the impression that she had botched.

This wasn't quite the case, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. He claims that the only point at which Catherine Joy Perry (as the divorce documents read) went off-script was with the "90 days," adding that Bobby was supposed to correct her, and that everything else in the segment went as planned.

So it wasn't a series of botches, but a single botch in a janky, awkward script that once again made Lana look foolish. Regardless, the storyline's perverse entertainment value remains high. It's a beautiful trainwreck.
