Backstage Update On Mike Tyson's AEW Future

Will Tyson vs. Chris Jericho ever happen? And if so, when?

AEW President Tony Khan touched upon a number of key topics relating to the promotion in a recent interview with the New York Post, one of which was legendary boxer Mike Tyson's status within the company.

Khan stated that he felt 'Iron Mike' did a "great job" during his appearances for the company in May. He attributed much of the increased publicity surrounding the Double or Nothing pay-per-view to his presence, adding that he'd love to have Tyson back if the opportunity ever arose, though they'd have to work it out.

Commenting directly on the rumoured match with Chris Jericho, Khan stated that he "thinks it would be great."

Tyson's last AEW appearance was on the 27 May episode of Dynamite, where he tangled with 'Le Champion,' reprising their old WWE rivalry. The pull-apart brawl with Tyson's crew and Jericho's Inner Circle wasn't entirely well-received by wrestling fans and critics though it did earn slithers of coverage from publications that don't always cover the sport.

Tyson vs. Jericho had been rumoured for the All Out pay-per-view on 5 September. If we are to take Khan's words at face value, this can now be ruled out.
