Backstage Update On NXT Wrestlers Competing At WWE Royal Rumble 2020

A grand total of zero NXT wrestlers have been announced for the Rumble so far.

WWE Royal Rumble 2020 is now just six days away (26 January) and the promotion has left itself with a lot of work to do with the titular bouts, particularly on the women's side.

While 19 of the 30 men's places have already been filled, only Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, and Sarah Logan have been confirmed for the women's bout. That mean's there's just one week of television left to fill 26 holes.

NXT is conspicuous by its absence at the moment. December brought reports that up to 10 black-and-gold wrestlers would feature in both bouts, but not a single one has been confirmed so far, with Raw and SmackDown providing all the talent.

Fortunately, according to the Wrestling Observer, fans need not panic about NXT being represented in the Rumble matches: as of a couple of weeks ago, WWE's still planned on booking some of its Wednesday night stars for the pay-per-view.

A relief, though this is WWE. Plans can and will change on a whim.

It's worth noting that former NXT Women's Champion, Shayna Baszler, is still listed as a big betting favourite on a number of sites.
