Backstage Update On Thunder Rosa's AEW Status
Will the NWA Women's Champion be involved in AEW going forward?
Thunder Rosa is currently working for All Elite Wrestling on a per-date deal, reports Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online.
The reigning NWA Women's Champion defends her strap against Ivelisse on next week's episode of Dynamite. She debuted for AEW a few weeks ago, answering Women's Champion Hikaru Shida's challenge for a contender to step up. A victory over Serena Deeb on the All Out go-home show followed, before Rosa was felled by Shida at the pay-per-view itself, working one of the night's most well-received bouts.
Thunder Rosa remains contracted to the NWA, which is in stasis following former executive Dave Lagana's implication in the #SpeakingOut movement. It is expected that the Billy Corgan-helmed group will resume operations soon.
Recent weeks have seen Rosa express an interest in an NWA booking role. This means it's probably safe to assume she isn't looking to leave the promotion, though she'd make a great addition to AEW programming on a more regular basis. She'd be one of the more accomplished wrestlers in an inconsistent division, though Tony Khan has stayed coy on a potential NWA/AEW working agreement, saying the extent of it is an existing personal relationship between him and Corgan.
