Tommaso Ciampa shocked wrestling fans around the world when he turned on tag team partner Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, but it looks like their big feud will have to wait.

According to PWInsider, Ciampa is currently in Birmingham, Alabama to undergo surgery on a torn ACL, and will miss significant TV time.

The former NXT Tag Team Champion walked into Chicago with a damaged ankle, and reportedly suffered this second injury during DIY's ladder match with The Authors Of Pain. There's no word on the severity, or how long Ciampa might be out of action for, but he could be missing for a while.

Ciampa was reportedly set for a big heel push in NXT. He appeared at the last set of TV tapings, showing little remorse for his fallen partner, and promising to become "the most dangerous man in pro wrestling" after returning.

Gargano wasn't present at said tapings, as he is currently selling the storyline injuries inflicted during Ciampa's brutal assault at TakeOver. We probably won't be seeing either man soon after the episode featuring Tommaso's promo airs, but they'll surely resume their feud once Ciampa is cleared to compete.
