Backstage Update On Vanished WWE Raw Star

The WWE locker room has gone silent on this long-missing Raw wrestler...

It seems that the name "Elias" is as seldom heard backstage in WWE as his face is seen onscreen at the moment.

Following up on a Ringside News report stating that the former 'Drifter' was in "creative purgatory", with one tenured team member quipping that they couldn't remember the last time Elias' name was brought up, Dave Meltzer states in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that "nobody talks about him."

This doesn't exactly bode well for a potential return.

Elias hasn't wrestled any kind of match for WWE (televised or otherwise) since 19 July 2021, when Jaxson Ryker defeated him in a Symphony of Destruction bout. It hasn't quite been radio silence since then, however, as WWE started airing vignettes for an apparent repackaging the following month. In them, the 34-year-old burned his guitar, declaring his Elias character dead, though the videos were dropped after a couple of weeks. There is no word on what, if anything, WWE ever had planned for this attempted new gimmick.

Elias has been under WWE employ since early 2014, when he signed a developmental contract and was assigned to NXT.
