Here's when - and why - WWE chased the former Renee Young for a comeback.

The past weekend brought word that Renee Paquette may soon be on her way to All Elite Wrestling, with WWE sources claiming to have heard as much in the week of news that their own company had contacted its former broadcaster over a comeback.

Now, Dave Meltzer states that WWE approached Paquette to return ahead of the company's recent shake-up in its broadcasting teams. Writing for Sports Illustrated, he stated that Paquette had spurned WWE's advances - then corroborated the company's impression that Renee is heading to its closest competition.

Paquette's husband, Jon Moxley, currently reigns as AEW World Champion. AEW announced Moxley had signed a new five-year deal with the promotion this weekend.

August 2020 saw Paquette announce she was departing WWE following the cancellation of WWE Backstage on Fox, feeling she had accomplished everything she wanted to in the company. The Canadian had worked as Renee Young for the market leaders since 2012.

From there, Renee worked a pre-show panel for the 16 October 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown, then appeared on a one-off Backstage special the following January. She has not taken on a full-time wrestling role since departing WWE.
