Last week saw Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri break the news that WWE was planning on holding its first ever Queen Of The Ring tournament later this year. Some details have now emerged via the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast's Andrew Zarian.

Per Zarian, current plans are for Queen Of The Ring to commence on the 8 October episode of SmackDown and 11 October episode of Raw.

The tournament would therefore be going down after the upcoming WWE Draft 2021, which is currently pegged to start with the previous week's episode of SmackDown. As always, however, the card is subject to change.

This will be the first time WWE has booked an X Of The Ring tournament since 2019. Baron Corbin was crowned that year's King, only recently losing his crown to Shinsuke Nakamura as part of their ongoing feud.

Bad News Barrett triumphed in the competition's previous incarnation (2015), with KOTR declining in prominence at the start of the century despite once serving as a reliable star-maker, springboarding the likes of Bret Hart, Kurt Angle, and Steve Austin's careers.

WWE has looked reticent to produce women-only content over the past few years, with no Evolution pay-per-view or Mae Young Classic since 2018.
