Backstage Update On WWE's Plans For Keith Lee

Here's WWE's current thought process when booking the former NXT Champion.

WWE currently has no specific plans for booking Keith Lee outside of continuing to present him in a way that at least endeavours to make him look like a star, reports Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

This would explain Lee's recent presentation. Scoring a decisive, seven-minute victory over Randy Orton at Payback 2020 was a great step and the idea of having him exist within 'The Legend Killer's' feud with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is sound. With that said, the former NXT Champion increasingly feels like a spinning third wheel. WWE has wisely kept him from being pinned or submitted during his time on the main roster but four of his seven matches since transitioning from NXT have ended via disqualification or countout.

WWE has altered Lee's presentation since an awkward Raw debut saw him arrive with a new, poorly-received entrance theme and altered ring attire. The outfit has since been changed though there's no word on whether or not the promotion will look at switching his music.

Orton and McIntyre will seemingly finish their feud with an Ambulance Match at Clash of Champions this Sunday. It'll be interesting to see if Lee remains in the WWE Title picture after this.
