Where are WWE heading with their new odd couple storyline?

Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura became the latest set of strange bedfellows to come together on WWE programming last week, with Zayn seemingly taking 'The King of Strong Style' on as a managerial client for an Intercontinental Championship feud with The Miz.

This week brought further escalation, with Nakamura destroying 'The A-Lister' while the gloriously obnoxious Zayn literally jumped with joy, providing running commentary for the beatdown. A solid start, and it sounds like the duo are in it for the long haul. Sort of.

As this is a single source not named Dave Meltzer, Mike Johnson, Sean Ross Sapp, or Ryan Satin, the story should be taken with a pinch of salt. Regardless, stories like this often end with the unlikely alliance imploding and a big blowoff match. It stands to reason that Zayn and Nakamura's alliance could go the same way.

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho's Festival of Friendship remains one of the most critically lauded angles in modern WWE history. If WWE can find a way to recreate that magic with Sami and Shinsuke, they'll be onto something special. Here's hoping.
