Backstage Update On WWE's Plans For Superstar Spectacle
New details on WWE Superstar Spectacle, which hits Indian TV on 26 January.
WWE's latest attempt at expanding into the untapped Indian marketplace continues with Superstar Spectacle, which will air on Indian Republic Day (26 January), a major holiday in the nation.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson has issued a new report offering fresh information on the show, due to be taped at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, on Friday 22 January.
WWE have scrapped their original plan of capturing the footage across multiple days and editing it together, instead electing to produce Superstar Spectacle live to tape. Rehearsals will be held in the days leading up to the show as well. Realistically, these may have already commenced, as there's little time left between now and the special.
Running a total of two hours, Superstar Spectacle will go out on Sony TEN 1 and Sony TEN 3 at 8 PM in India, and while this isn't yet confirmed, itis believed the show will also air on WWE Network. Jinder Mahal, Kavita Devi, Indus Sher, and The Bollywood Boys feature in the advertising materials, with WWE confirming trainees Jeet Rama, Giant Zanjeer, Dilsher Shanky, and Guru Raaj's participation as well.
A Great Khali cameo hasn't been reported yet, though as Johnson points out, it's an idea you'd assume WWE have explored.
