One of the most shocking and memorable moments of WrestleMania 33 was the surprising return of The Hardy Boyz. The brothers had been rumored to be on their way back in, but just how quickly it all came together was unexpected. The iconic WWE duo was added to the Raw tag team triple threat ladder match, and after receiving one of the biggest pops of the night, went on to capture the championships.

Now details have emerged regarding their appearance and what it took to put it all together. The night prior to Mania the Hardy brothers wrestled a ladder match against The Young Bucks at the Ring of Honor pay-per-view, dropping the tag team titles they had only recently won in what was considered to be one the show’s standout performances.

When it came time for their appearance at WrestleMania, the pair didn’t arrive at Camping World Stadium until late in the day. They were spotted at their hotel while the show was already going on, and after mingling with fans in the lobby Jeff said that his body was beat up from the match with The Young Bucks and he needed to head up to his room to get some sleep.

It was then that the brothers snuck off and made their way to the building for their long-awaited return to WWE. It’s especially impressive to note that the two superstars, ages 39 and 42, competed in back-to-back ladder matches in a 24-hour period, with Jeff doing his usual breathtaking suicidal spots despite still aching from the ROH bout; the complaints of still being in pain very much a real concern for “The Charismatic Enigma”.

The Hardy Boyz have already been advertised to appear on Monday Night Raw, so if you’re one of the many fans excited to have the duo back in WWE, make sure to tune in.
