Though details are sketchy at this point, sources are reporting that Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch will miss Sunday's No Mercy Pay-Per-View with an as-yet-undisclosed injury. The story was first broken by Wrestling Sheet's James McKenna.

Becky, who debuted on WWE's main roster last summer, was the top female draft pick for the Smackdown brand in July's split. At last month's Backlash show, she was crowned the inaugural Smackdown Women's Champion by winning a six-pack challenge match over Naomi, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Natalya, and Nikki Bella. Becky was scheduled to make the first defense of her title in a one-on-one match against Bliss.

It's uncertain how WWE will handle the news that Becky won't be able to compete. WWE knew in advance of Backlash that Randy Orton, who was booked in a match with Bray Wyatt, was still suffering from a concussion received at the hands of Brock Lesnar and would not be able to compete. News about Orton's injury broke the weekend of the show, but WWE never publicly acknowledged it and only wrote Orton out of the match in an angle on the PPV itself.
