Having stepped away from the NXT announce table last month, Beth Phoenix made her return to WWE programming at last night's WWE Day 1 PPV.

With Maryse interfering in Edge's match against The Miz, the Glamazon came out to stalk Maryse and free up the Rated-R Superstar to hit his patented Spear on the A-Lister and pick up the win. Post-match, Phoenix and her husband posed in the ring and seemed to set up a likely mixed tag match for down the line.

While it was great to see the three-time Women's Champion and one-time Divas Champion appear at Day 1, there was a slight technical hitch to Phoenix's arrival. Upon appearing on the stage, there was a rather awkward moment where her music took a while to kick in - meaning audiences got a few seconds of Phoenix standing in silence and making angry faces at the top of the entrance ramp, before she then headed to the ring once her entrance theme finally kicked in.

Beth announced in early December how last month's WarGames special would be her last show on commentary for the NXT brand. Since then, many had speculated that she may at some point become involved in the ongoing rivalry between Edge and The Miz - and that indeed has proven to be the case.
