Big Change Made To AEW Dynamite Match Last Night

One of last night's AEW Dynamite matches did not play out as originally intended.

Rush wrestled Penta Oscura on last night's AEW Dynamite, but the promotion originally had a different idea in mind for the two wrestlers.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that for the second consecutive week, AEW had intended to book Rush and La Faccion Ingobernable partner Andrade El Idolo in a tag team match with Penta and Rey Fenix, his fellow Lucha Brother. This was rendered impossible when one of Andrade or Fenix was decreed unable to compete.

AEW also attempted to put the tag bout together for last week's Blood & Guts tapings in Detroit, Michigan. The wait continues following this latest report.

Rush defeated Penta in what was his first AEW singles match last night. It was an ill-gotten pinfall, as Rush took advantage of the distracted referee to nail Penta with a low blow, pull his mask from his face, and then roll him up for the victory. This gives the impression that the feud will continue.

Although this was Rush's first singles match in AEW (following last week's Royal Rumble appearance), he has been signed to the promotion for a while. May's Double Or Nothing 2022 brought his debut.
