Dominik Dijakovic has become one of NXT's foremost rising stars in recent months, with the former indie standout seemingly set to fill one of the big holes left by Tommaso Ciampa's injury, and Ricochet and Aleister Black's main roster call-ups.

The 32-year-old will now have to wait for that opportunity. Per WWE.com, Dijakovic underwent surgery in Orlando, Florida yesterday. The problem? A torn meniscus.

The extent of his problem remains a mystery and the same goes for his recovery time, though the rehabilitation time for such injuries typically lasts approximately three months.

Dijakovic uploaded a Twitter video commenting on the situation yesterday. He didn't reveal how the injury was incurred, stating that he didn't view it as a setback, but "a gift." "I'm happy that I had a tear in my meniscus because this represents sacrifice," he said. "This represents discipline."

He goes on, thanking his family for being "the only ones waiting" when he got out of surgery, adding that their support would continue to motivate him as he chases The Velveteen Dream and his NXT North American Championship.
