Alexa Bliss will challenge for Asuka's Raw Women's Championship on tonight's show, WWE has confirmed.

The writeup makes reference to the "horrifying transformation" that went down when Alexa and Asuka wrestled each other last week. 'Fiend' noises hit the speakers and the ThunderDome's lights and screens flickered midway through the bout, with Bliss switching from a pink shirt to black and adopting a more stoic demeanour. The implication was that she'd been "possessed" by Bray Wyatt, which spooked Asuka, leading, eventually, to Alexa's win via Sister Abigail.

Bliss then transformed back to her previous self after the bout, her new gimmick established.

That wackiness aside, a wrestler pinning a champion in a non-title bout is a relatively logical way to earn a title shot, even when things get a little spooky.

It would appear that Bliss' "transformation" is here to stay, so perhaps she'll use it against 'The Empress of Tomorrow' again tonight. Her ally, Wyatt, hasn't been seen since Randy Orton left him burnt to a crisp in their Firefly Inferno Match at TLC 2020 in December, though Alexa has since avenged him by launching a fireball at 'The Viper's' face, forcing him to appear in a mask on last week's Raw.
