Christopher Daniels isn't actively wrestling for AEW at the moment, but the company's Head of Talent Relations is open to stepping between the ropes again should the opportunity arise.

Speaking at the C2E2 convention in Chicago, Daniels mentioned his last match on company television - a loss to The Young Bucks stipulating that if he and SCU partner Franke Kazarian were defeated, they must split. The 51-year-old has been weighing-up his in-ring future since then, though he'd be glad to compete for AEW again (h/t SEScoops):-

“The last match I had for AEW television was the night that we wrestled against the Bucks and unfortunately, we lost and SCU had to split up. Since that time, I have sort of been weighing my future in the ring and I decided that I still wanted to give wrestling in the ring a go. Honestly, I would be lying if I said that I was happy going to AEW and not seeing my name on the board. I want to get back in the ring and do something with this roster.”

Though Daniels' last AEW TV match took place on 12 May, he returned to the ring through IMPACT Wrestling in September. He has since worked a number of indie dates as well as an NJPW STRONG taping, as well as four bouts on the Jericho Cruise in October, going 2-2 in singles and tag action.

Continuing, Daniels said that him competing might not be the best thing for AEW at the moment, acknowledging that returning may not be his call:-

“But I also realize that AEW is not a vanity project, and maybe Christopher Daniels in the ring isn’t the best thing for AEW at this time with such a stacked card and so many young talents there. It’s not my call. I hope to get in the ring at some point soon, but if not, I also realize that I’m still contributing to AEW. And if fate decides that my best contribution is behind the scenes, then so be it. But I’m still ready to go and the minute I see my name on the board, I’ll lace them up and bring it.”

Kazarian has continued as a singles wrestler in Daniels' absence, primarily feuding with The Elite. Daniels, meanwhile, remains in his backstage role.
