Bray Wyatt's WrestleMania 39 Feud Revealed On WWE SmackDown

WWE is going in a rather surprising direction with Bray Wyatt come WrestleMania 39.

Bray Wyatt grabbed the mic on this week's episode of SmackDown and called for both Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley to "run" after their upcoming Elimination Chamber singles bout on Saturday night.

Flanked by the mysterious 'Uncle Howdy', Wyatt dispatched Hit Row (who had been cutting a promo mid-ring before he arrived), then fired out a warning to both guys. His speech prompted one of those stunned, "Ooooooh" reactions from the live crowd on Friday.

Nobody really saw this WrestleMania 39 challenge coming.

Bray has never wrestled Lesnar or Lashley in a one-on-one match - he did work a mini-feud with Brock back in 2016, but that peaked with a handicap match at the Roadblock special. There, Wyatt and Luke Harper (Brodie Lee) lost to Lesnar just over four minutes.

Perhaps the most interesting thing here is that Brock is expected to beat Lashley in Montreal. That'd then, in turn, mean that Lesnar vs. Wyatt was WWE's plan for 'Mania. The long-rumoured Brock vs. Steve Austin match would become an impossibility, at least for April.

Some on socials are already concerned that Bray's OTT characterisation would struggle against Lesnar's more serious approach.
