This week's episode of AEW Dynamite saw Britt Baker announce that she had signed a new contract with the promotion, thereby taking a big-name "free agent" off the market.

The AEW Women's World Champion used that specific terminology as a tease of her boyfriend, Adam Cole, who has been linked heavily to the promotion and could now realistically sign following his WWE contract's expiration. Regardless, Baker wasn't working when she spoke of her new deal.

Per Fightful Select, Baker has, indeed, signed an extension with AEW. There is currently no word on the length or other terms of the contract, but Britt wasn't lying on Dynamite.

Baker is currently scheduled to defend the Women's World Title against Kris Statlander at All Out 2021 this Sunday (5 September). This will be her third defence since taking the strap from Hikaru Shida at Double Or Nothing 2021 in May, with Nyla Rose and Red Velvet already falling during her reign.

The 30-year-old was announced as AEW's first female signing at the company's opening press rally in Jacksonville, Florida in January 2019. She has played a prominent role in the women's division through the company's lifespan, whether playing face or heel, but didn't start gaining significant traction until her immensely successful turn last year.
