'The Beast Incarnate' destroyed Kingston in last night's SmackDown main event.

As expected, Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston to become WWE Champion on last night's SmackDown season premiere on FOX, but while few would have bet against 'The Beast Incarnate' reconquering the throne, even fewer could have foreseen the manner in which Lesnar crushed Kingston.

A single F5 was all it took to put Kofi away. The bell rang, Lesnar blasted Kingston with his finisher, and that was that. Kofi's six-month WWE Championship reign ended in a moment of Brock and awe.

The post-match was just as notable, with Rey Mysterio hitting the ring alongside the debuting Cain Velasquez, whose takedown and ground and pound forced his old UFC rival to flee.

Lesnar vs. Kingston will have been a sore one for many a WWE fan. While Kofi's diminishing crowd reactions suggest that his reign was running out of steam and 'The Beast,' as WWE's biggest male star, makes sense as a SmackDown on FOX figurehead, that a part-timer ended one of wrestling's greatest fairytale stories has already rankled the internet.

It's a shame WWE went for a full-on squash rather than a longer bout, but them's the breaks. Maybe Kofi will get a rematch.
