Cancel WWE Network Trends After Fastlane

...but subscriptions are likely to go up.

Following Roman Reigns' victory over Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar at Fastlane, #CancelWWENetwork was trending on Twitter. However, Network subscriptions are actually set to rise, with WrestleMania 32 widely expected to set a new record subscription number. Fans are upset at Reigns winning the Mania title shot, just as they were when he won Royal Rumble 2015. The cancel WWE Network trend was big then, but actually ended up seeing increases in subscriptions. It just goes to show how misleading social media can be, with many people using the hashtag but not actually going through with a cancellation. However, in some cases after Fastlane, fans were posting screenshots of their cancellation confirmation. In terms of this working as a protest, it will have zero impact on WWE. They only look at the numbers, and the numbers are inevitably going to go up for Mania. The company won't care about the hashtag, they'll write it off as the vocal minority. They are likelier to look at the numbers going up and conclude they are on the right track with Roman Reigns. WrestleMania is set to be biggest WWE attendance in history, the biggest live gate in WWE history, the biggest Network number in WWE history, and fan protest isn't going to change any of that.
