Despite being advertised for a WWE house show that evening, Charlotte Flair was backstage at AAA Triplemania XXIX on Saturday 14 August.

Flair had been promoted for a WWE event in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was supposed to wrestle rivals Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H. in a Triple Threat. Instead, she was snapped backstage with her father, Ric, and lucha libre legend Konnan at Triplemania.

Charlotte’s husband-to-be, Andrade El Idolo, wrestled Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship in an unsuccessful effort on the show. Ric accompanied Andrade to the ring and got physical towards the end of the match, chopping Omega and putting Konnan in a Figure Four before the champion recovered to score the pinfall.

As a WWE contracted wrestler, Charlotte did not appear on camera.

Dave Meltzer spoke about the situation on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, saying that WWE knew about the situation in advance. He stated that Charlotte likely asked for time off that night so that she could attend Triplemania with her family. Despite this, the building (Charlotte, NC's Spectrum Center) kept advertising the hometown queen even though WWE knew she wouldn't be on the card.
