The much-publicised and dysfunctional match between Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax on this week's episode of WWE Raw was exactly what it looked like, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.

This wasn't a case of the duo attempting a worked shoot, but a bout that lost its way halfway through, creating an awkward situation where legitimate strikes were thrown. It is believed that this was a product of a communications breakdown.

But while the match became a real showdown for a short while, the wrestlers were able to recover by the end and deliver the planned finish. It is noted that there were no problems between Flair and Jax backstage after the match.

Flair vs. Jax appeared to go off the rails shortly after Nia had sent Charlotte to the mat with an impactful backdrop. From there, the duo got in each other's faces, talked smacked, traded what looked like semi-shoot blows back and forth, and didn't appear to be cooperating with one another. This was fortunately resolved by the final bell, with Jax taking the victory.

Nonetheless, it was a jarring sight to see play out in the biggest (and supposedly slickest) wrestling company in the world.
