Chris Jericho To TNA?! New Twist In Free Agent Saga! (WWE News)

AEW's Chris Jericho has reportedly "already agreed" to WWE return, but...fancies working in TNA?!

File this under news stories you probably didn't expect to read in January 2026. Final Bell Media's Andrew Baydala reckons AEW erm...favourite (technically true up until a few years ago!) Chris Jericho has "already agreed" to a blockbuster WWE return. However, Baydala believes there's about to be a twist in this particularly juicy tale.

According to reports, Jericho is "very interested in working [for] TNA". Yes, you're reading that correctly, and now there's speculation that the veteran could show up on the company's debut episode of Impact for AMC next week. What a start to a new era that'd be for Total Nonstop Action.

It's almost unfathomable.

Jericho has never really been one to play it safe or stick to the rules though. That was evidenced by his shocking jaunt over to New Japan towards the end of his last WWE run, and then by his decision to throw considerable star power behind AEW's launch in 2019.

TNA bosses would clearly be keen on having Jericho involved, and it's easy to imagine he'd stir up interest in the debut episode. This is like when Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff debuted way, way back in 2009! Sort of. The biggest difference these days is that TNA isn't directly competing against WWE - they have a solid working relationship with the market leader.

Opinion: Royal Rumble Return Is A Safe Bet

This is just one writer's opinion, obviously, but WWE holding off until the Royal Rumble PLE on 31 January sounds like a much safer bet. Jericho didn't show up as expected on the 5 January Netflix anniversary episode of Raw earlier in the week, which put immediate hype behind his seemingly imminent re-arrival over in Saudi Arabia.

Most fans (including this one) predict that Chris Jericho will break the walls down by jumping from AEW then, and that it'd be a huge surprise if he was on TNA beforehand. Of course, if Jericho really is keen and Triple H/TKO want to bend over backwards to make him happy, then they might negotiate something related to TNA in the future.

For now? It's up in the air, but Baydala seems convinced that there's a fair to good chance of it happening. Pro wrestling has simply been bonkers for years now, eh?!
