CM Punk's Side Of The AEW Story - Young Bucks Kicked Locker Room Door Down?!
A new report gives CM Punk's side of the story following AEW's chaotic post-All Out 2022 fight.
Opinions on who was responsible for AEW's post-All Out 2022 brawl vary depending on the witness, with some stating The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega storming into CM Punk's locker room made them the aggressors, and others claiming Punk started throwing punches as soon as the AEW Executive Vice Presidents walked into the room.
On Tuesday, Fightful Select issued a report giving CM Punk and Ace Steel's side of this complex, developing story.
The Young Bucks are alleged to have gone to Punk's locker-room following the AEW World Champion's incendiary media scrum remarks on them, Omega, 'Hangman' Adam Page, and more. When a bloodied Punk, who had just wrestled a long pay-per-view match with Jon Moxley and conducted an emotional press conference, didn't open, the Bucks apparently started pounding the door, then "kicked [it] down."
Per Punk and Steel's account, Matt Jackson threw the first punch, missing. Punk threw one back. Nick was taking this in as it happened, with Omega and Steel forcing themselves into the room.
Fightful's report backs up Dave Meltzer's claim that Ace's wife was in the room at the time. Steel has claimed that this is what set him off, prompting him to reportedly throw a steel chair at Nick, bite Kenny, and pull his hair. He was looking out for his spouse, who, according to Meltzer, is recovering from a broken leg and therefore has restricted movement.
It is stated that initially, Omega didn't seem as upset as the others, though things quickly spiralled.
The confrontation, meanwhile, has been described as "very long", with the back-and-forth talk continuing after the fracas.
Meltzer reported yesterday that while accounts of how the fight started vary from witness to witness, nobody would dispute that CM Punk punched Matt Jackson at least once, Ace Steel threw a chair that hit Nick Jackson, and Steel bit Kenny Omega and pulled the Executive Vice President's hair.
With regards to Punk's AEW future, while there's talk that both Punk and Steel are done with the promotion, this hasn't yet been made official. Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp tweeted:-
Right now AEW talent have not been told anything official. Almost all I've spoken to believe CM Punk will have to go or make major amends to remain with the company.
A lot of the talent haven't arrived where Dynamite broadcasting from yet, but the heat on Punk is unreal.
