Current AEW Star & WWE Legend Teases Retirement
Is this the end of the road for a true pro wrestling legend? It could be.
Ex-WWE star, current AEW man and all-round pro wrestling legend Dustin Rhodes has dropped heavy hints that he's considering retirement.
Rhodes posted an emotional message on his official Twitter account to clue fans in on his recent thinking - it won't make great reading for anyone who loves watching Dustin prolong his incredible career in All Elite. At one point, Rhodes said: "Old age has caught up to me, guys".
The former Goldust then went on to say that "time comes for all of us". He then admitted that he's "kinda scared" about what the future holds. That open book mentality brought fans flooding into Dustin's replies, and pretty much every comment begged him to reconsider.
Rhodes hasn't wrestled a match since losing to Claudio Castagnoli in a hastily-arranged ROH World Title bout on the 26 August episode of Rampage (taped on 24 August). Before that, he hadn't worked in-ring since June.
Dustin started his wrestling journey way back in 1988. He's a shining example of somebody who managed to overcome serious personal problems to flourish, and no AEW fan will ever forget his stunning brawl with brother Cody at Double Or Nothing 2019.
Stay tuned for more on this when it breaks.
