Current WWE Star "Never" Thought He'd Turn Heel

The chance to tackle a heel role on WWE TV came as a huge surprise to this wrestler.

Dominik Mysterio was shocked when WWE officials said they planned to turn him heel.

The wrestling rookie told Busted Open Radio that the whole thing is "just insane" to him. He never thought for one second he'd go rogue, turn on his father Rey or link up with stars like Finn Bálor, Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest in Judgment Day.

If anything, Dom thought he'd follow in his dad's footsteps by being a babyface for life. There was just no way he figured WWE's creative team would think he had it in him to be an effective heel, but he's relishing the chance to prove what he can do in that spot.

Now, Dominik seems destined to work a rare father vs. son brawl with Rey on the grand stage at WrestleMania 39. That hasn't been confirmed quite yet, but WWE's booking is certainly heading that way and has been for a while.

Creative put Rey vs. Dom on the back burner by moving the elder Mysterio to SmackDown last year. They've since fanned flames once again in the lead up to 'Mania.

Everything about his current run caught Dominik completely by surprise.
