Current WWE Raw star Ivar told fans on Twitter that he was almost forced to retire from the ring due to injuries suffered last year.

The Viking Raiders member was benched with a serious neck injury sustained during an eight-man tag bout on the 7 September 2020 episode. Ivar thanked fans for their support during the 'pandemic era', and for returning to ringside now restrictions are being loosened.

He then went on to reveal that his future was very much up in the air. In fact, Ivar wasn't sure if he "would ever be able to step through the ropes again and live this dream". Thankfully, he's recovered from that nasty cervical jolt to rejoin partner Erik and work some hidden gems against reigning Raw Tag-Team Champs AJ Styles and Omos.

Ivar is immensely grateful to work alongside his "best friend" (Erik) and fly the flag for tag-team wrestling. Last September, following the injury, he genuinely didn't know if he'd ever get the chance to work in front of a live crowd again.

The 37-year old big man was bracing himself for forced early retirement.
