David Starr has being causing all kinds of stirs in the wrestling industry recently.
Not only did he send Twitter into a meltdown earlier this year when he blasted Ring Of Honor's owners ahead of scheduled match with Jay Lethal in Israel, accusing Sinclair Broadcasting of helping to "perpetuate narratives that immigrants are less", but just this past week he added WWE to his list of ticked-off promoters, when he publicly disrespected their NXT UK Championship.
During a match against the reigning champ WALTER at last week's OTT WrestleRama 3, the independent, um, Starr, grabbed the strap and impudently rubbed his foot across it - before receiving a massive powerbomb for his troubles.
The move suddenly made the Jewish Cannon one of the most talked about names in the industry. WhatCulture.com's Simon Miller managed to catch up with Starr this weekend, to ask exactly why he put toes to gold, as well as what his biggest gripes with wrestling are, which of his esteemed colleagues deserve more recognition, and why the independent scene is booming at the moment.
