Demetrious Johnson Will Challenge For ONE Championship Flyweight Title In April
'Mighty Mouse' is coming for Adriano Moraes.
ONE Championship announced on Sunday that UFC's inaugural Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will take on current ONE Flyweight Champion Adriano Moraes in China this April. Company founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed the news on Twitter:
'Mighty Mouse' was in line to challenge for the belt after winning the division's grand prix in 2019, knocking off Yuyu Wakamatsu, Tatsumitsu Wada and Danny Kingad in the process.
Boasting a phenomenal record of just one loss in his last 18 fights - a split decision loss to Henry Cejudo in his last UFC appearance in 2018 - Johnson is rightfully hailed as one of the greatest stars ever to step foot in his weight-class.
So, Moraes - who has reigned as ONE Championship's Flyweight champ for over a year - will have quite the tough task in trying to keep hold of his belt. But with only three losses on his 21 fight record to his name - all via split decision - you feel as though this one could turn out to be an all-out war.
Can Johnson add the ONE Championship Flyweight title to his list of illustrious achievements come April? Only time will tell.
