Summerslam 2021 hosted Brock Lesnar's unexpected return to WWE, as the Beast hit the ring following Roman Reigns' main event victory over John Cena, confronting the Universal Champion and manager Paul Heyman to seemingly establish SmackDown's next big title program.

This was Lesnar's first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 36 in April 2020 - and came following a period of free agency following Brock's previous contract last summer.

Fightful Select have now come through with details on Lesnar's new agreement with the promotion. Per the report, the 44-year-old has re-signed for around a year-and-a-half, with sources indicating that he is scheduled to work at least eight matches for WWE during this period.

It is noted, however, that this could be subject to change pending further negotiations.

The last WWE fans had seen of Lesnar prior to SummerSlam was when he put Drew McIntyre over as WWE Champion at WM 37. Though he had legally been free to negotiate with other promotions after becoming a free agent last summer, Vince McMahon's sports entertainment juggernaut was always Brock's likeliest landing point, with a jump to All Elite Wrestling ruled out on multiple occasions.
