Drew McIntyre Banned From Fighting For WWE Title After Bobby Lashley Loss
Last night's Hell In A Cell loss means McIntyre's WWE Title aspirations are over... for now.
Losing to Bobby Lashley at Hell In A Cell 2021 last night means Drew McIntyre can no longer challenge for the WWE Championship while the incumbent holds the belt.
Lashley ended up pinning McIntyre to win the Hell In A Cell match, retain his championship, and end his long-running feud with Drew, doing so via roll-up. It was a chaotic match, booking-wise, and Bobby's second pay-per-view victory over his rival this year, having previously felled McIntyre on WrestleMania 37's first night.
McIntyre was forced to endure interference from MVP, who entered the match following a ref bump. MVP came back into it later on, holding Drew back to allow Lashley to score the advantage, rolling Drew up for the count.
That Drew wouldn't be able to mount another WWE Title challenge against Lashley in the event of a defeat was stipulated prior to the show. Whether it sticks remains to be seen, given the screwy finish.
McIntyre's last WWE Title run ended on 21 February (Elimination Chamber 2021), when he fell victim to The Miz's Money In The Bank cash-in (with an assist from Lashley). Bobby flattened Miz to take the belt eight days later.
