WWE is bringing the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments back to NXT 2.0.

It was announced on last night's New Year's Evil show that the men's and women's competitions will both take place in 2022, with the men's tournament set to start in a fortnight. The women's Dusty Classic, meanwhile, will kick off at some point in February.

As usual, the tournament winners will earn shots at their respective division's Tag Team Championships.

Though the Dusty Classic has been in operation since 2015 (when it was announced as a way to celebrate the departed Dusty Rhodes' wrestling legacy), WWE only started running two tournaments last year, when the first women's competition went down. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez ended up taking the trophy there, though they immediately lost the Women's Tag Team Championships they were awarded, defeated, as they were, by Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart that same evening.

Last year's men's Dusty Classic was won by MSK, who ended up winning the Men's Tag Team Championships.

WWE is yet to formally announce any participants for the 2022 Dusty Classics, though they have released the following promo video:-
