A sudden earthquake has shook the arena mid-way through a live NJPW event today.

As a match between the teams of Yujiro Takahashi, Jay White, and KENTA, and Kazuchika Okada, Kota Ibushi, Hiroshi Tanahashi was unfolding on the show, panic began to spread throughout the venue as the cameras began to shake during the live broadcast.

It's being said that the quake in question was a 7.2 on the Richter Scale, with the noticeable impact of the ground shaking causing the lights to quiver in the arena and forcing NJPW to bring up the house lights mid-match. The bout was briefly paused whilst safety precautions were exercised, but it appears that nobody in the arena was harmed by the shocking event.

After one of the most surreal moments you're ever likely to witness in the midst of a wrestling show, the stars involved in the match decided to pose for photos with the fans in attendance to fill time before getting back to business 20 minutes after the pause in action.

It's since been reported that a tsunami warning has been triggered on the northeast coast of Japan, with the epicentre said to be just off the coast of the Miyagi prefecture.
