In The New Breed
Matt Striker served a fairly thankless role within The New Breed – if Cor Von was the group’s enforcer, Striker was the diplomat, a well-spoken, sweater vest-wearing former teacher who regularly attempted to parlé with The New Breed’s enemies. As such, he was often viewed as the weakest member of the group, regularly taking pinfalls whenever a loss was on the cards.
After The New Breed
Although Striker spent eight years with WWE, his in-ring career was fairly short, and he spent most of his time as a commentator, rotating between RAW, Smackdow, ECW, and even hosting NXT. Just like Cor Von and Burke, Striker never managed to win any titles during his WWE tenure, although he does boast a Slammy Award for Announce Team of the Year to his name.
As a human encyclopaedia of wrestling manoeuvres, Striker has become one of the most sought after commentators outside of WWE, serving as an English broadcaster for AAA, NJPW, and Lucha Underground, as well providing commentary for WCPW’s upcoming Pro Wrestling World Cup ’17.
