In a major surprise, Monday Night Raw saw Edge appear via video to give an update on the triceps injury that’s kept him out of action since last June’s Backlash PPV.

The Rated-R Superstar not only appeared, but he made the shocking announcement that he is formally entering himself into this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match – citing how he needs to enter that match, win that match, and headline WrestleMania 37.

Explaining how “tomorrow’s not guaranteed”, Edge talked about how his mother would want him to do this, how life is all about dusting yourself off and continuing to walk forwards.

Of course, last year’s Royal Rumble PPV saw the 11-time World Champion make his goosebumps-inducing return to action after having been forced into retirement back in 2011 immediately after WrestleMania XXVII.

Edge’s history with the Royal Rumble goes back long before 2020, mind, for he emerged victorious in the 2010 edition of WWE’s annual January over-the-top-rope extravaganza, not to mention he's had several phenomenal matches at the PPV.

In throwing his hat into the ring for this Sunday’s Rumble, the Canadian joins Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Bobby Lashley, Otis, The Miz, John Morrison, Jey Uso, Cesaro, Jeff Hardy, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sheamus and Mustafa Ali as those confirmed for the men’s Royal Rumble.
