Edge has released a series of photos showcasing the gruesome extent of the triceps tear he sustained during his "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" with Randy Orton at Backlash earlier this month.

In an Instagram post, the former multi-time world champion offered a content warning before sharing several harrowing photos of his recent surgery in order to put any doubts to bed that the injury was part of a storyline.

The only prerecorded bout on the live pay-per-view, the former Rated RKO members epic main event clash had more than an hour of material recorded for it that was then heavily edited prior to broadcast.

Reports also suggest that Edge's injury had actually occurred while the pair were re-recording a spot, with eagle-eyed fans on social media immediately noticing the severity of the injury during the broadcast.

With an average recovery time of 8 months, it seems unlikely that Edge will perform inside a WWE ring again during 2020.

The injury is just the latest in a series of setbacks for the Rated R Superstar, who made a triumphant return at the Royal Rumble earlier this year after nearly a decade outside of competition due to recurrent neck issues.
