Longstanding rumors have proven to be true, as AJ Styles answered Edge's challenge Monday night from last week to face him at WrestleMania 38 next month.

Edge delivered an impassioned promo last week imploring someone to step up to face him at WrestleMania, declaring that Mania needs him, and he needs it. No one answered the call last week, but when the Rated-R Superstar came out on Raw Monday night, AJ quickly made his way to ringside and accepted.

The encounter took a very sharp turn when Edge demanded he get the bulldog Styles, not the guy who played "tag team b*tch to Omos" for the past year. AJ looked incensed, but Edge then offered a handshake... and blindsided Styles. Edge proceeded to decimate AJ, dodging a Phenomenal Forearm and hitting a low blow, then retrieving two chairs.

After contemplating his actions for a bit, Edge charged ahead and delivered two conchairto shots to a prone Styles, closing Raw on a very dark moment with fans booing him fiercely.

Regardless of the heel turn, Styles versus Edge has the potential to be a show-stealing classic if given the time and creative freedom. AJ is still one of the very best out there, and Edge has shown in his return that he's capable of delivering excellent matches himself.
