Every WWE To AEW Defection Ranked From Worst To Best

Miro left the WWE and his Rusev name behind in April 2020 after being put through the wringer with a long drawn-out storyline involving his real-life wife Lana making him look like a cuckold by regularly making out with Bobby Lashley.

Miro has described the creative freedom as a strong reason for signing with AEW in September 2020 when he debuted The Best Man gimmick with his expensive Gucci attire and aligning himself with Kip Sabian for his upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford. Highlights of his six-month run with AEW have included making him out to be the charismatic dominant force he was always meant to be. He and Sabian/Ford have been feuding with the Best Friends and their laid-back cheerleader Orange Cassidy as of late. Many are hoping AEW continues building on the momentum Miro has made in his short run, hoping he can one day become a top guy. Tony Khan is demonstrating patience with Miro, with Miro even admitting it would be the wrong call to have him come in and win a major championship like the TNT title straightaway, commenting:

“If I had come to AEW and become champion on day one, there were going to be 90 other million people who were going to be like, ‘Oh, well, look at this. He’s just another a former WWE guy just coming in and taking the title. And look, we have Hangman Page and the Bucks, and everybody else is just waiting for their opportunity.’”
