One of many wrestlers released by WWE in 2021, Damo's departure was confirmed alongside a group of others on 25 June, with the promotion citing "budget cuts" as the reason during this period of unprecedented profitability.
Damo's 90-day non-compete clause expired that September, freeing him up to work for other promotions, and he returned to the independent circuit through Ireland's OTT in October. He has since stayed active with such companies as ICW and RevPro in Europe, with his most recent United States date being for Control Your Narrative on 5 March.
Damo had been with WWE for five years at the time of his departure and had spent his last few months working an odd couple tag team program with Drake Maverick.
