Hornswoggle reckons he needs to use his hearing aid "all the time now" because he spent so much time underneath WWE rings.
The ex-WWE star told Chris Van Vliet's 'Insight' show that he once got into trouble with The Undertaker for falling asleep under the canvas and missing a spot. After apologising and buying 'Taker a bottle of booze, Swoggle explained to the legend that "the ring just wasn’t loud to [him] after a while".
He'd been underneath it that often, and sometimes went for a little nap during shows.
That baffled The Undertaker, but he was willing to forgive and move on. Just as well, because Hornswoggle thought for sure he'd be fired by WWE for upsetting an icon. 'Taker wasn't that petty, and Swoggle went on to enjoy a lengthy run in the promotion. However, he definitely kept his wits about him from that point on.
Finlay's "son" (who also played the role of Vince McMahon's "son" for a while) spent a ton of time hiding out under the ring, and he started to get used to it. That's why he nodded off, and it's why he needs help hearing in 2023.
