Former WWE star Viktor (pictured on the left above) told Lewis Nicholls during a brand new interview on YouTube that he felt "huge relief" when the company released him from contract last December.

Viktor and his partner in The Ascension, Konnor, were both let go on the same 8 December 2019 date. Neither had been seen on WWE television in months prior to that.

Now, Viktor is thankful he was released when he was. He told Nicholls that he was totally "burned out" by WWE life and struggled to admit that he "wasn't happy whatsoever" before the promotion severed ties with him.

Part of the struggle came from realising that WWE wasn't the right place for him despite the fact he'd always dreamed of working there as a child. That put serious mental strain on Viktor, but he was also mindful not to moan around others who had it tougher than he did.

At least The Ascension got to earn a decent living on the road.

Viktor admits he "took it to heart" when WWE failed to capitalise on how hot the team were in NXT. Their main roster run was dire.
