Former WWE and WCW wrestler Timothy Smith, better known by his ring names Rex King and Timothy Well, passed away due to complications from kidney failure on Monday. He was just 55 years old.

WWE fans will know Smith best for his time in the Well Dunn tag team with Steve Dunn. Starting life as The Southern Rockers, the duo performed mostly in the Pacific Northwest, Memphis, and Puerto during the late '80s and early '90s, before eventually joining WWE in 1993. Well sustained an injury shortly after the team's debut, however, and the duo were forced to leave.

They returned in 1994 and resumed working against top teams like WWE Tag Team Champions The Headshrinkers, with their most notable feud coming against The Bushwhackers on Monday Night Raw. Well Dunn parted ways after leaving WWE in 1995, and Smith went back to Puerto Rico, renaming himself Rex King in the process.

Smith retired from the ring in 2004, and in July 2016, he was named as one of 51 wrestlers suing WWE for allegedly concealing the risk of traumatic brain injuries. A GoFundMe page was set up to cover the costs of his funeral, and current United States Champion Chris Jericho stepped in to donate the entire $2,500, completing the family's initial goal.
