With AEW's Claudio Castagnoli winning the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship on Friday night, that was followed up by Claudio and his Death Riders pals getting quite the heated reaction on Saturday.

Saturday saw Castagnoli team with Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia to pick up a win over Esfinge, Ultimo Guerrero, and Difunto at Arena Coliseo. Post-match, the Death Riders received huge heat from those in attendance, complete with beer cups being thrown at the trio.

Dave Meltzer over at the Wrestling Observer noted that the majority of the heat seemed to be directed at Wheeler Yuta, with Yuta described as "a natural heat magnet". Meltzer also added how CMLL traditionally hates "that stuff".

For those who may have missed it, Claudio Castagnoli beat Gran Guerrero for the CMLL World Heavyweight Title at CMLL Viernes Espectacular from Arena Mexico on Friday night, bringing an end to Guerrero's reign at a mammoth 1,117 days. That marks a first slice of gold for Claudio since the Death Riders dropped the AEW Trios Titles to the Opps back in April, and a first piece of singles gold since he beat Chris Jericho at ROH Final Battle 2022 to embark on his second run as the ROH World Champion.

Interestingly, this win also brings a World Title back into the Death Riders' fold at a time when some are starting to ask questions about Jon Moxley's role as the leader of that faction...
