Judgment Day leader ALMOST revived his 'Demon' character in WWE this year.

Finn Balor was reportedly close to bringing his 'Demon' character back to WWE earlier this year, reports Fightful Select.

The report notes that Balor had been slated to work as 'The Demon' against Edge at Royal Rumble 2023, where the duo would have met inside Hell In A Cell. This contest ended up being postponed due to Edge's acting schedule, though the veteran's feud with The Judgment Day continues. Last week's Elimination Chamber 2023 show saw Edge and wife Beth Phoenix defeat Judgment Day's Rhea Ripley and Balor.

Fightful's sources felt that the 'Demon' character doesn't fit WWE's current presentation of The Judgment Day. They were against it as a result, though some people were of the belief that adding the gimmick to Balor vs. Edge would have generated extra buzz.

Finn has not performed as 'The Demon' since Extreme Rules 2021, where he was defeated by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in miserable fashion. There, a character almost impervious to pain, with apparent supernatural powers, was defeated after falling off a collapsing turnbuckle.

Balor cost Edge the United States Championship against Austin Theory on last night's Raw. It is now anticipated that their Hell In A Cell match will take place at WrestleMania 39.
