Florida-based TV host John Alba has shared some new pictures of WWE's ThunderDome being constructed at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Alba posted these pics on his Twitter page, and said a source inside the baseball venue sent them over to him. Both snaps show WWE staff busily installing LED screens and the huge, elaborate set piece that hands over the ring. Neither pic has an actual wrestling ring in it, but that's likely the final touch.

WWE's new ThunderDome will debut on this week's SmackDown. Then, from Friday night onwards, all Raw, SmackDown and major pay-per-view broadcasts will take place at Tropicana Field - Monday's Raw was the promotion's last hurrah in Orlando's Amway Center.

It's been fascinating to see WWE's progression since the global pandemic started in March. They retreated to the tiny Performance Center for months, then moved into Amway. Now, it seems, Vince McMahon wants something bigger for his programming.

Tropicana Field certainly offers that. It's slightly smaller than the stadiums one might expect to see WWE use, but it should make for a flashy backdrop on screen each week.
