Former World Champion Done With IMPACT Wrestling

Multiple-time World Champion departs IMPACT Wrestling.

Having main evented Slammiversary 2023 this past weekend, it appears that Nick Aldis' latest run with IMPACT Wrestling has come to an end.

Via PWInsider.com, Aldis finished up with IMPACT as Sunday's TV tapings from Windsor, where he lost to the recently-returned Eric Young. There's no word yet on what may lie in the future of the National Treasure, but the Brit - a World Champion with both IMPACT Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance - will surely have plentiful suitors where it pertains to his next major career move.

Under his Magnus moniker, Aldis was originally with the then-TNA from 2008 through until 2015. From there, he would work for the much-maligned Global Force Wrestling, becoming the short-lived promotion's inaugural World Champion. A brief return to TNA/IMPACT followed, but it was 2017 where the Englishman really came into his own, when he landed under the banner of Billy Corgan's NWA. With the NWA experiencing a resurgence in popularity in the next few years, it was Aldis leading the charge at the top of the card for what genuinely became one of the most entertaining, enjoyable products in the industry.

The end of last year saw Nick formally depart the NWA, citing unhappiness - sadly, like so many fans - with the creative direction Corgan was taking the organisation. Aldis returned to IMPACT Wrestling this April, where he made it clear he was after the promotion's top men's prize, as shown by him immediately being lined up against World Champion Steve Maclin. The Norfolk native would become the #1 contender for that title at Under Siege; an event which also saw Alex Shelley defeat Maclin to become the new World Champ - thus putting in motion the Slammiversary main event, where Shelley retained his gold against Aldis.

It was speculated earlier this year that Nick Aldis' deal to return to IMPACT wasn't a particularly lengthy one, and that certainly appears to be the case, with this run lasting just three months.

Aldis wasn't the only talent to finish up with IMPACT this past weekend, though...

Zicky Dice Exits IMPACT Wrestling

Sunday's Windsor TV tapings also saw Zicky Dice wrap up his run with IMPACT Wrestling.

Expected to air as part of this week's IMPACT Wrestling broadcast, Dice lost a Loser Leaves IMPACT contest against Johnny Swinger.

Another former NWA name, Zicky landed in IMPACT in August 2021, and it'll be interesting to see where Outlandish ends up next. While his time in the NWA saw him win the promotion's World Television Title - defeating Ricky Starks for that prize - the Seth Rollins-trained Dice has also competed for both AEW and MLW prior to signing with IMPACT, and it wouldn't be out of the question for him to test the waters with those companies in the future.

With his ties to Rollins, of course, some may suggest that Zicky Dice may be someone who's on the WWE radar, but that remains to be seen. Where WWE is concerned, it's known that there are fans of Nick Aldis amongst company management, although Aldis has also butted heads with Bruce Prichard over the years.
