Former WWE Champion On Verge Of MAJOR In-Ring Return?
Is WWE on the verge of pulling off a MAJOR comeback?
WWE officials are currently pushing for Ronda Rousey to return to the company.
Per Fightful Select, the former Raw Women's Champion has been so widely discussed in WWE that it is now considered a "poorly kept secret," with comeback talk escaping WWE internally and making it to talent who don't even work for the promotion.
Rousey's name has been mentioned for this Saturday's Royal Rumble 2022 event, either as a performer in the titular women's match or featured elsewhere on the show. Her involvement (and specific role) for the 29 January event hasn't been confirmed, however.
WWE still has 9 empty slots to fill in the women's Royal Rumble, leaving plenty of scope for surprises.
Fightful's sources state that Rousey has recently been training for an in-ring return, having given birth in September. Her comeback is now considered a matter of "when and not if" within the promotion. Currently, talk about her coming back for the first time since WrestleMania 35 is louder than at any point since her WWE departure in April 2019.
Rousey's original WWE contract was set to expire in April 2021. There has been no word on her re-signing with the promotion, though that doesn't mean it hasn't quietly happened behind the scenes.
