Former WWE Star Opens Up On "Shock" 2022 Release

Getting cut by WWE was really "tough" for this wrestler, and the timing didn't help.

Mark Andrews was left stunned when WWE chiefs informed him he was being let go on 18 August 2022.

The Welshman told Herald Wales that he was in "shock" when the news came in, especially because Andrews had an inkling he might even appear on the upcoming Clash At The Castle stadium show on 3 September. Being cut mere weeks before that was a major bummer.

Andrews, who has since relaunched his old ATTACK! indy promotion in the UK, said he found it really "tough" to digest what had just happened. WWE released him the same month he was getting married away from the ring, and so potentially the best time of his entire life (getting hitched and appearing on a stadium show in Cardiff) was squashed.

"Life goes on" became his go-to phrase, but the timing of that WWE release does still sting a bit in February 2023. Mark wasn't the only NXT UK star who got his marching orders either, so he had to watch some of his friends going through the same thing towards the end of the year.

He still got married, obviously, but professional uncertainty hit him hard.
